Life coaching is something that has really gained in popularity over the last few years. You may have heard of it before, though there’s often some confusion over what it is. At first glance it looks similar to counselling in that the client talks about their concerns or worries. Different solutions are looked at, then a course of action is decided upon.  With life coaching there is much more attention on looking towards the future and setting goals, both short and long term. Whilst counselling skills are being used, the client with the help of their coach agrees upon certain tasks and actions and are monitored and encouraged to complete them. One of the most effective ways of coaching is using something called the GROW model, which stands for Goals,Reality,Options and Way forward.

A good coach will both listen to ideas their client has and also be able to offer suggestions themselves. Often using tools such as NLP or other effective, modern techniques for self improvement.

At one time, coaching was something only associated with athletes and sports people but everyone can benefit with the help and guidance of a coach. Life coaching works and is used in all areas of life. Whether it’s your work, home life, family or love life where you’d like to see improvements, it’s effectiveness remains the same. It can also help you to focus on your strengths and overcome obstacles that have previously held you back. Having a coach is like having an alie, so that instead of working alone you have someone objective by your side. This can help take you from where you are now to where you want to be, faster than you could get there by your self.
